It was November 22th, and here in Cancun we were eating any other thing but a
nice turkey, and that’s ok, thanksgiving is not a mexican tradition, even some people
never have never heard about it.
I
got a friend who was born in Miami she lives in Playa del Carmen like me, and every year, she invites me to celebrate
thanksgiving, at the beginning was something new and weird, but now I even
count the weeks until that day.
When
you simply don’t know anything about thanksgiving your day pass as any other
day, like most mexicans do.
Here in Cancun, there’s a little group of people who prefer to celebrate thanksgiving
having dinner, they reunite and organize to buy the turkey, the wine and a lot of delicious snacks which go along with the tradition. That's pretty nice, well, comparing to the endless thanksgiving parades in America, our dinner definitely just stay in "nice"(laughs)
So, if you don't know what thanksgiving day is, come on!, google it! and tell us what do you think about it, the crazy and epic moment when you realize we have different traditions which define our culture, and as we celebrate thanksgiving, there's a lot of people in Cancun, Monterrey, Dubai, Morocco who keep the routine going like a normal day, another one.
Happy Thanksgiving!
