THE LOLITAS IN CANCÚN
The last Wedneday in the class the teacher made us to present something
about a subculture and we decided
to talked about the lolitas because a friend of us is one of them , also she is the lolitas leader here in Cancún . So we choose that
theme , she said that they have an adorable way of life . The mens are called "kodonas", but they are not common as the girls. Originally the lolitas is
a fashion subculture originated in 1970
in Japan. Their dress is based on Victorian era clothing
as well as costumes from the Rococo period, but the style has
expanded greatly in all Japan. In that
city are lot of companies sells various Lolita
fashions. They are addicted of
fashion , and teddies and bunnies.
Specifically here in Cancun we can see a group of people who share this Japanese way of life it´s an important subculture, with some radical differences, as the places and also that here in Cancún we don´t have stores for lolitas . You could say it's only a fad, but it is a way of thinking, of course not as developed as in Japan.
Cancun actually has 2 groups of lolitas, together they reach about a hundred people, most of whom are women. A few months ago we had the opportunity to interview some of them in a convention , to find out a little bit more about them and their lifestyle.
They don´t dressed Japanese costumes all the time , they don´t follow very strictly line as far as the colors.
The most important questions of all that are How can they you do it with all the obstacles that Cancún represent ? What do their parents and cancun´s society think about their activities ?
The responses are varied, but we can reach several similarities.
The lolitas girls in our city are between fifteen and twenty-five years, they are students and workers, many of them are studying cooking, fashion design or graphic design, photography or other type of communication, and other jobs like management and nutrition. But mostly the first mentioned.
The answer to this is the important Asian influence due to consume anime and certain type of music ( asian ) , and all the fashion style. They usually meet at the home of someone of them, they love poetry criticism, make plays, share books while eating cakes and cookies or any food they have cooked themselves , also in it´s a reality in Cancún.
Their parents know about their activities and most accept it , they don´t stop thinking that is something unusual . They respect the decisions of their and support them to some points. To close this description . The lolitas don´t wear seven days a week as in Japan, but the way of thinking and relating the lifestyle is consider like an original japannese lolita.
Ta conclude I wan to say that the culture is important and it expands all over the world because of the globalization , and a way of life like is this subculture is more than countries , cities , and the most important thing in life is to repect and respect the liberty that everyone of us have to expressed our selfs as we want to .
