"The Punk´s"
The punk movement is the counterculture that surrounds
punk music and fans to it. Usually linked to outsiders by popular culture, the
practical countercultural punks include a series of codes of behaviour,
language, clothing and themes that have become recurrent and that distinguish
them. His main means of expression are the concerts of the genre
("scene") and fans ("fanzine") publications.
The original punk form philosophy was a type of simple
rock and something loud to express themselves with their own means and
concepts. The first groups musical representatives of punk and proto-punk
include The Ramones, Misfits, The New York Dolls and The Velvet Underground
(the band of Lou Reed)
The punk philosophy can be summarized in: "Do it
yourself" or "do it your way".
They hate the fashions and the mass society (though its
aesthetics can also be considered a preset by the punk fashion). In his songs, these bands expressed serious
discontent with the systems and institutions that organize and control the world.
Sometimes the music also serves platform for philosophical and ideological
proposals. During the 1980s, punk in United States was permeate political,
mainly progressive content as opposed to the Conservative Government of the
time. Examples from this period are the bands Dead Kennedys and Bad Religion.
In Europe, the punk is a music especially used as a means of dissemination by
people akin to political movements and social "outsiders", mostly
from the left, although there is a current of right which uses it, being
criticised and reviled by most.

- Visual and other elements
The classic punk rock look among male American musicians harkens back to the T-shirt, motorcycle jacket, and jeans ensemble favored by American greaser of the 1950s associated with the rockabilly scene and by British rockers of the 1960s. The cover of the Ramones' 1976 debut album, featuring a shot of the band by Punk photographer Roberta Bayley, set forth the basic elements of a style that was soon widely emulated by rock musicians both punk and nonpunk.
